ICE Arrests Giraffe-Costumed Protester as Tensions Escalate at Minneapolis Demonstration | APT
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a protester wearing a giraffe costume during a tense demonstration outside a federal building in Minneapolis on Monday.
The man, identified as comedian and protest singer Robby Roadsteamer, was taken to the ground by agents as demonstrators shouted and moved in to confront officers. Video from the scene showed agents restraining Roadsteamer while protesters chanted nearby.
Earlier footage showed Roadsteamer and other demonstrators dancing in the street and singing anti-ICE songs, including alongside another protester dressed in a frog costume. Elsewhere in Minneapolis, additional ICE operations sparked confrontations, with some residents seen being tear gassed.
Local resident Christian Molina said ICE agents struck his vehicle as they moved through the area, prompting him to confront officers after exiting his car.
Tensions in Minnesota have remained high following last week’s fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, during a federal immigration operation. U.S. officials said the officer acted in self-defense, while critics and state officials cited bystander video that they say raises questions about the incident. Protests have continued across Minneapolis in response.
