BREAKING: Country sensation Orville Peck joins growing boycott of talent agency rocked by Epstein ties.
Another major artist has had enough — and the exodus is picking up speed.
Country star Orville Peck announced this week that he is officially cutting ties with the powerful Wasserman Agency after disturbing revelations surfaced linking the agency’s CEO, Casey Wasserman, to Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted accomplice of Jeffrey Epstein. Peck’s decision makes him the latest high-profile musician to say no thanks to business as usual in the entertainment industry.
“In light of the recent findings regarding Casey Wasserman, I have made the decision to no longer be represented by the Wasserman talent agency,” Peck wrote in a blunt Instagram post. While thanking his personal team, Peck made clear he could not stay silent or complicit, expressing compassion for agency staff who are now caught in the fallout.
The South African-born Peck is known for performing behind a distinctive fringed mask and for collaborating with artists ranging from Willie Nelson to Lady Gaga to RuPaul to Kylie Minogue and Diplo. He has also pursued an acting career, appearing in a lead role on Broadway in “Cabaret” and on film in an upcoming reboot of “Street Fighter.”
Peck is far from alone in cutting his association with his agent. In just days, a growing list of artists have publicly severed ties with Wasserman, including Best Coast’s Bethany Cossentino, Chelsea Cutler, Dropkick Murphys, Wednesday, Hippocampus, and Grammy-winning breakout star Chappell Roan. The message from artists is unmistakable: moral lines matter more than industry clout.
Roan put it plainly, writing that “no artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.” That’s a direct rebuke to an industry that has spent decades asking people to look the other way in exchange for fame and access.
While Casey Wasserman has not been charged in connection with Epstein or Maxwell, the damage is already done. Wasserman previously denied having a personal or business relationship with Epstein, but for many artists, even proximity to that world is a dealbreaker.
This moment is about more than one agency — it’s about accountability. Artists are finally using their platforms to say that success doesn’t excuse silence, and power doesn’t come with immunity.
The entertainment industry has protected the powerful for far too long. Now, artists are drawing a line — and walking away. And judging by how fast the exits are coming, this reckoning is only getting started.
