"Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York," written by historian Andrew Lownie and published by HarperCollins UK in August 2025, is primarily a biography about Prince Andrew and his deeply troubling relationship with convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Buried inside it were a few passages claiming that Epstein had a sexual relationship with Melania FOR A YEAR before facilitating her introduction to donald trump, claims the White House flatly denied, pointing to her 2024 memoir which says she met trump at a New York City party in 1998.
What followed was a textbook example of a sitting president's family using legal muscle to rewrite a published historical record. After Melania's lawyers came knocking, HarperCollins folded in October 2025, pulling the passages, issuing a public apology, and recalling those 60,000 copies. A major publisher quietly censoring its own book at the behest of the White House, rather than standing behind its author or letting the courts sort it out.
The whole episode sits inside a much bigger, thornier story, because while Melania's legal team was racking up wins, the trump administration was simultaneously stonewalling congressional demands to release the full Epstein files. The DOJ announced there was no client list, essentially closing the investigation, a move that satisfied almost no one across the political spectrum.
