Ilse Koch (1906-1967) was a sadist Nazi murderer, who became the scapegoat for the crimes of Nazi women.
Ilse Koch tortured prisoners and ordered gloves and lampshades made of their skin. She organized orgies and forced male prisoners to rape female prisoners.
The media worldwide nicknamed her the “Bitch of Buchenwald” since she committed most of her crimes while being a commandant at Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany.
How a polite wife became a sadistic camp torturer
Ilse Koch was the wife of the commandant of the Buchenwald concentration camp, Karl-Otto Koch. Although known as a polite and happy child, Ilse, a bookkeeper by profession, revealed her sadistic and nymphomaniac nature when getting the taste of power.
Karl-Otto became commandant of the Buchenwald camp in 1937. Ilse Koch soon got the position of the commandant of the women’s camp at Buchenwald.
The horrific crimes of Ilse Koch — The “Skin Harvester”
Ilse beat camp prisoners with a riding whip and forced them to perform physically exhausting tasks — for her personal amusement.
Ilse loved riding. She forced camp prisoners to build her a riding hall. Often she rode through camp, trampling to death random prisoners.
Ilse was also very interested in human skin. She had the prisoners stripped naked to find those with beautiful tattoos. The prisoners were then killed by injection and their skin was peeled off. The skin was tanned and used for various household items.
