The first work, entitled A Cow in a Room, was painted in 1911 and clearly demonstrates the dramatic evolution of Chagall's aesthetics after he moved to Paris in 1910. There he became acquainted with the latest achievements of modern avant-garde art, and the artist’s painting style instantly changed.
