February 24, 2026. HM King Charles III, his consort, HM Queen Camilla, HRH Princess Anne, The Princess Royal, in her role as as Chancellor of The University of Edinburgh, and TRHs Duke & Duchess of Gloucester presented the Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Education at St James's Palace in London.
During the event HM The King handed out silver gilt medallions to the winners, bearing the cypher of Queen Elizabeth II, while HM The Queen presented scrolls designed by students at Central Saint Martins College of art printed with gold leaf and signed by The King.
The Queen Elizabeth Prizes for Higher and Further Education are part of the UK national honors system, recognizing at the highest level of state outstanding work in universities and colleges. They were first awarded by the late Elizabeth II in 1995 and now in their 16th round, the Prizes are granted every two years on the advice of the Prime Minister following a rigorous review process managed by the Royal Anniversary Trust, an independent charity.
The recipients were: The University of Edinburgh, Gateshead College, Hull College, The Institute of Cancer Research, London, Lancaster University, University of Leeds, Leeds Beckett University, Liverpool John Moores University, London Metropolitan University, Loughborough University, Newcastle University, North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College, North West Regional College, University of Nottingham, University of Oxford, Royal College of Music, University of Salford, Scotland's Rural College, and the University of Southampton.
