Tattoo Artist (1944) by Norman Rockwell was the cover of the Saturday Evening Post of March 6.

The sailor's love life can be read on his arm, as the tattoo artist adds his latest girlfriend to his arm. The painting also provides an insight on how well tattoos were accepted in the United States at that time. Before WWII, they were not widely accepted, but during the war, tattoos gained popularity among people serving in the armed forces (and sailors).
