~ Fred Spurgin~ Children's Book Illustrator/Post/Greeting Card Designer/Artist~ b. in Latvia, in the late 1800's he moved to England with his family.

He had three brothers and a sister, his father was a watchmaker and did jewellry repair.

Fred and his brother Maurice were professionally trained as designers and artists. Fred was a prolific artist, including illustration, having illustrated dozens of Children's Books and Post Cards. They often featured delightful Cherubs, his work was very colourful and whimsical.
