Donald Trump’s ban on some American media organisations backfired hilariously on him when he was unveiling one of his pet White House projects.
The television press pool that covers the White House on Monday (Tuesday AEST) demonstrated against his ban by pulling coverage of the president.
It meant Trump’s speech at the unveiling of a new helipad, without any media agencies’ audio equipment, was drowned out by nearby helicopters.
Moments before the president wielded oversized gold scissors to cut a red, white and blue ribbon.
He then exchanged handshakes and spoke with officials and some construction workers wearing hard hats.
But it was impossible to hear what he was saying over the noise of his waiting Marine One helicopter.
